Complete underground utility package including sewer, storm, water and third party utilities for
the construction of a 13 acre commercial/retail development at the corner of 196 th and Highway
99 in Lynnwood Washington.
Spotlight
Commercial development. Sensitive weather construction. Fast Track Schedule.
Problem
Due to a total redesign of the storm utility system, the project had to be completed within 60
days to meet the contracted delivery schedule for LA Fitness. The work included the installation
of more than 15,000 feet of sewer, storm, water piping, structures and appurtenances during
winter months in moisture sensitive till materials.
Solution/Results
Working with the General Contractor, New West developed a phased work sequence and
schedule that allowed surface improvements to proceed prior to total utility completion. Cement
was utilized to treat trench spoils where necessary to achieve compaction. New West met the
crewing needs and exceeded the project expectations for utility installation.
